Atomcell Backer Rod

Overview

Atomcell is a flexible, readily compressible, closed-cell polyethylene back-up strip for elastrometric sealant. In a butt joint the sealant should adhere opposite faces of the sealant slot but not to its base. Use Atomcell as a bond breaker to prevent sealant adhering to the wrong surface (concrete or organic joint filler).

Applications

Atomcell is used as back-up material. It uses to regulate the depth of the sealing slot and ensure the movement of the joint sealant is not restricted by adhesion to the base of the sealing cavity. The size of the back-up strip should be 20% greater than the joint width, and depressed sufficiently to provide the required sealing slot dimensions.
